India has won the match by 19 runs
Ruturaj Gaikwad’s assured half-century set the platform for India as they defeated New Zealand by 19 runs in a high-scoring T20 contest. India posted 206-5 from their 20 overs, then held New Zealand to 187-6 in reply.
Gaikwad anchored the innings with a fluent 50 from 42 balls, striking four fours and one six. Ishan Kishan added momentum with 42 from 22 deliveries, including five fours and two sixes, helping India build a formidable total.
New Zealand mounted a serious challenge through Mark Chapman, whose explosive 82 came from 42 balls. Chapman cleared the ropes five times and found the boundary seven times, keeping the chase alive deep into the innings. However, New Zealand could not maintain the required scoring rate over the closing overs.
India’s bowlers delivered enough control to protect the total. Axar Patel claimed 2-39 from four overs, while Jasprit Bumrah also took 2-40 from his full spell. New Zealand’s James Neesham returned the best figures for his side, taking 3-30 in four overs.
Gaikwad was named Player of the Match for his valuable contribution at the top of the order, while India’s balanced performance across both innings sealed a convincing finish to an entertaining encounter.
